Christiane comes to Trinity after receiving her PhD in Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she focused on understanding the variation in morphology of carnivorans over time, with a particular focus on the odd shapes of the domestic dog skull. Her research has made use of amazing collections from museums across the country and she hopes to foster an appreciation for museum collections and their research value in her work with undergraduates. In her teaching, Christiane focuses on giving students a solid foundation on core concepts of evolutionary biology while allowing them to learn about and appreciate their local ecosystems and fauna. Before her PhD at UCLA she received a BS from the University of California, Santa Cruz in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology where she worked with elephant seals, white-crowned sparrows and snowflake eels.
