Paul Tomolonis began his career as an electrical engineer but quickly moved into business working for Ben & Jerry’s. After more than a decade learning business first hand, Paul moved on when Ben & Jerry’s was sold. Working for multi-national firms such as McCormick Spice & Pepsi while pursuing his MBA, Paul took his first accounting class and fell in love with it, deciding to pursue a Master’s in Accounting at the same time. After working for Otis Elevator in internal audit, Paul decided to retire early, pursue his PhD and teach future generations about business. Finding business disciplines too narrowly focused, Paul pursued a PhD in Economics to research the role of business in society and specifically the part accountants (and information) play in the economy. Paul’s teaching philosophy mirrors his experience: a healthy dose of applied theories and experiential learning along with a big-picture focus on societal effects.
