Degrees:
Ph.D., Dartmouth College
B.A., Wellesley College
Catherine Bue-Hepner studied biology and music, later changing her major to biochemistry after a pivotal biochemistry course, during her undergraduate career at Wellesley College. She received her doctorate from the Molecular and Cell Biology Program at Dartmouth College, studying the budding yeast cargo-sorting adaptor, Erv26p. Her current research seeks to further understand the structure and function of Erv26p as a way to understand protein sorting in general.
Dr. Bue-Hepner began teaching in the chemistry department at Worcester State University in 2013 and has taught both chemistry and biology ever since. Her favorite topics are cell biology, molecular biology, and genetics. She strives to include real-life examples of scientific topics in class, so that students can relate more quickly to the lessons, and believes this is especially important for students with less intense scientific backgrounds.
Outside of the sciences, Bue-Hepner is a certified Pink Gloves Boxing instructor (beginner and intermediate levels) and has taught carillon.
