Alison J. Draper is the Director of the Center for Interdisciplinary Science at Trinity College (Hartford, CT). She directs the Interdisciplinary Science Program (ISP), an honors-like program for first-year students who are interested in science. She teaches the first-year seminar for this program and recruits and advises all the student participants. As Director of the Science Center, Dr. Draper organizes science division activities such as the annual research symposia (September and May), nominations for the Goldwater and Udall scholarships, and programming for summer research students. She also advises STEM and pre-health students, writes external grant proposals to support science education,
directs the Supplemental Instruction program, a peer-led study program designed to improve retention and success in introductory science courses, and coordinates functions of the division, such as national fellowship advising, an annual research symposium, the Science for the Greater Good speaker series, and summer research programs. In all this, she takes the greatest joy from getting to know her students and connecting them with opportunities and advice that change their lives for the better.
