Prof. Swart was a Medical Technologist in his first career, performing laboratory tests guide patient care.  After too many hours on the night shift he decided to return to graduate school to study animal physiology and behavior.  He serves as the Laboratory Coordinator for Neuroscience working with students to teach them all aspects of experimental design, laboratory technique, and basic principles of neurobiology. His research focuses on the control of behavior by the nervous system in insects and other invertebrates.  Currently he serves as the Director of the Health Professions Advising Program.
