Amie Senland is a Laboratory Coordinator and Lecturer in the Psychology Department. Professor Senland initially developed the desire to teach and mentor undergraduates while working with her undergraduate professors on their research. After earning her B.A. at Saint Joseph College (now the University of Saint Joseph), Professor Senland completed her Ph.D. in developmental psychology at Fordham University, where her research focused on moral reasoning and empathy in individuals with autism spectrum disorder. As a teacher, Professor Senland aspires to make a difference for her students and to foster a deeper capacity for and appreciation of learning by developing positive relationships with students, challenging students to engage in more complex thinking and helping students apply content to the real-world. Professor Senland’s experience of being mentored by faculty as an undergraduate helped her to value faculty-student collaboration, as well as the importance of working closely with students to guide them toward their academic, personal, and professional goals. |
