In a 21st century dance climate where artist equals entrepreneur - embracing, encouraging and practicing versatility and diversity is radical and essential. Embodying that combination in Dance and in life has contributed to Leslie Frye Maietta’s successful performing career in both Concert and Commercial Dance spaces on an international to local scale. A Mother, a Mover and a Maker, Leslie’s current creative work has been presented from Berlin to Boston and her teaching experience continues to be equally as distinct. Earning her BFA from The University of the Arts and her MFA from Hollins University | The American Dance festival, has kept Leslie’s network wide and inclusive. The comprehensive and rich training she has received over the years takes root in her creative work and drives her teaching approach.
Leslie recently formed Body House, the collective- a project based platform, a house of mentorship and a hub for her rich collaborative research rooted in the empowerment of women of diverse backgrounds producing socially conscious performance. Additionally, Leslie is Mom to three and devoted to somatic/embodied practice. She is the Founder/Owner of Body House, Integrative Fitness located in Avon, CT. A space dedicated to providing health and greater sense of home in the body through movement, specializing in Gyrotonic exercise, core rehabilitation and more.
Leslie continues to enjoy providing a fresh voice in university dance programs across New England and is honored to be invited to Trinity’s programs in Dance and Theater. www.lesliefryemaietta.comwww.yourbodyhouse.com |
