Abigail Maley is Lecturer and Laboratory Coordinator in Biology at Trinity College. She started as an undergraduate at Ohio Wesleyan University where she majored in zoology. During her graduate work at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, she completed her master’s focusing on the use of call surveys to monitor frog populations followed by her doctoral research on the population genetics and social behavior of the four-toed salamander, Hemidactylium scutatum. Her current research interests focus on the intersection between ecology, behavior, and conservation with an emphasis on the amphibian and reptile species of the eastern deciduous forest. In the classroom, Abigail is passionate about teaching and uses her enthusiasm as a tool to engage students in the material and to spark their own interest in biology. She believes that hands-on, interactive learning is a vital step in helping students bridge the gap between learning about science to doing science.
