Randy Cragun is a labor and demographic economist with a passion for interdisciplinary social science. He comes from a West-Coast hippie town but completed his Ph.D. in Economics at Clemson University in 2016, where his research blended macroeconomic growth theory with micro-level models of human capital and demographics. His current work focuses on the effects of family planning policies on education, labor market outcomes, and family formation. His path to economics began with a psychology degree and formative undergraduate experiences in student-led research and seminar-style courses. These early encounters with open inquiry and respectful intellectual exchange continue to shape his teaching. He aims to foster classroom environments where students feel empowered to think critically, explore big questions, and engage with research as collaborators. Before joining Trinity, he taught at Niagara University and Birmingham-Southern College.
