Edwin Alverio, is a Puerto Rican scholar dedicated to the advancement of Spanish language, literature, and culture. He holds an M.A. from Central Connecticut State University and a B.A. from Eastern Connecticut State University, with additional academic training at the Universidad de Puerto Rico, Universidad del Turabo (Puerto Rico), and Universidad de Salamanca (Spain).
Since 2020, he has served as a Visiting Lecturer in Language and Culture Studies at Trinity College, while also holding a long-standing appointment as Adjunct Faculty at Connecticut State Colleges and Universities - CSCU since 2010. His teaching spans both traditional academic courses and specialized programs for healthcare workers and business professionals in Hartford, Connecticut.
Beyond teaching, Alverio is an active writer and artist whose work integrates academic research, creative expression, and cultural advocacy. His scholarship and artistic practices center on amplifying Puerto Rican voices and experiences, while critically engaging issues of colonialism, diaspora, and cultural identity. In addition to his academic and creative endeavors, he has a background as a competitive weightlifter and as a national and collegiate coach in Puerto Rico, bringing the same discipline and commitment from athletics into his professional life.
