Benjamin Bruce is a mathematician specializing in harmonic analysis, the study of waves and signals. His PhD thesis focused on the Fourier restriction problem, a conjecture that links wave behavior with geometric concepts such as curvature, symmetry, and dimension. Ben is interested in all types of problems related to harmonic analysis, but especially those with a discrete or combinatorial flavor. His recent work lies at the intersection of harmonic analysis and fractal geometry.
Ben began his academic career as an undergraduate at St. Olaf College, where he studied mathematics and philosophy. He remains passionate about the liberal arts and is thrilled to join the Trinity College faculty. Ben’s teaching interests are broad, but he is most excited to share his love of analysis. He strives for a teaching style that encourages curiosity, exploration, and growth. He hopes that every student leaves his class feeling inspired, supported, and eager to keep learning.
