From 2012 to 2022 Judge Weiner served as a prosecutor with the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice. In that capacity he represented the State of Connecticut in criminal appeals before the Connecticut Supreme Court, the Connecticut Appellate Court, and the United States Supreme Court.
 
Prior to joining the Division of Criminal Justice, Judge Weiner spent five years in private practice. There, he represented clients in complex commercial disputes as well as defendants challenging their convictions for serious crimes. He also represented inmates who claimed to have suffered violations of their constitutional rights.
 
Judge Weiner began his legal career by serving as a law clerk to the Honorable Richard N. Palmer of the Connecticut Supreme Court.
 
Before becoming a judge, Judge Weiner co-authored a monthly column analyzing recent Connecticut Supreme Court decisions. His law school note, entitled “Defeating Hatred with Truth: An Argument in Favor of a Truth Commission as Part of the Solution to the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict,” was published in the Connecticut Law Review.  
 
Judge Weiner graduated from Amherst College cum laude in 2002. He earned his J.D., with Honors, from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 2006. He has taught Fundamentals of American Law at Trinity since 2016.
