Gerardo Ruiz graduated from Yale with a Ph.D. in Economics in 2018. His research interests include the areas of Industrial Organization, Health Economics, Labor Economics and Econometrics. Before pursuing his Ph.D. at Yale he spent almost three years working for a private consulting firm, he studied a masters in Economic Theory at Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) and received a B.Sc. in applied mathematics and economics from ITAM.

His teaching philosophy has been shaped both by his teaching experience at Yale and by his experience doing research in empirical applied microeconomics. Given these experiences, his primary aim is to give students the tools they need to see the relevance of economics to their lives and to public policy, and to improve students’ ability to read, write, and think about economic problems using the material taught in class. As a Teaching Assistant at Yale, he had the opportunity to teach: Intermediate Macroeconomics, Introductory Microeconomics, Game Theory, Econometric and Data Analysis I and Econometrics II.
