Ruoxing Gao is an electrical engineering researcher focused on electromagnetic theory, photonic crystals, and antenna design. She recently completed her Ph.D. at the University of Michigan, where her work centered on developing computational methods for magneto-optic materials and microwave remote sensing applications. Her research bridges theoretical modeling (including 3D full-wave simulations) with field experiments, notably contributing to NASA’s SMAP mission for soil moisture monitoring. As a teaching assistant, she designed hands-on circuit and antenna laboratories using Multisim software, receiving consistently outstanding student feedback. Dr. Gao prioritizes connecting foundational concepts with practical engineering challenges, an approach informed by her industry experience at UL Solutions improving mobile antenna safety standards. She co-developed a patented UHF RFID tag design for biomedical environments.
