8.10 Employee Assistance Program

Effective Date: April 1, 2010 (revised)

Purpose:

The College recognizes that, while most problems that employees face are resolvable and do not affect their work-lives, occasionally situations arise that require additional support and assistance. The purpose of the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is to provide employees and members of their households with the means to obtain assistance for a variety of personal and interpersonal issues which may affect their ability to be productive and engaged members of the College community.

Procedure:

Eligibility/Enrollment

All benefit-eligible employees are eligible to access the EAP from their date of hire. Additionally, all members of an eligible employee’s household, regardless of dependent status, may access EAP services. No enrollment is necessary. The Human Resources Department can provide information on how to access these confidential services by phone or on-line.

Costs

Monthly premiums for the EAP are 100% College-paid. However, employees may be responsible for any costs outside the counseling sessions included in the EAP services, such as for services by referred providers. Health insurance may cover some or all of these costs.

Termination of Coverage

EAP benefits generally end with the termination of employment, but may continue under certain circumstances after termination of employment, with advance approval from the Human Resources Department.
