Course Description:
What should we do about hate speech, disinformation, and incitement of violence on social media platforms? Should it be easier to sue newspapers for libel? How should we respond to the publishing of classified documents? This course will consider these and other contemporary problems involving the freedom of speech and other First Amendment rights, in light of Supreme Court decisions, historical sources such as John Milton's Areopagitica, and recent policy proposals. |
