Course Description:
Have you ever wondered what problem Matt Damon solved in Good Will Hunting or why John Nash's work was so important in A Beautiful Mind? In this course, we will discuss the various mathematicians and math problems that arise in the movies. We will also discuss the many societal pressures, prejudice, and mental health issues these mathematicians faced, as well as how these issues impacted both the person and mathematics in general. |
