Course Description:
This course examines how economies evolve as production, employment, technology, and policy change over time. Using intermediate macroeconomic theory as a foundation, we will examine how economists use policy to transform the economy to foster growth and resilience and to create the conditions for a green transition. Course materials will include historical examples of economic transformation to help us: i) contextualize and evaluate current policy debates, and ii) understand the role of institutions in driving structural change. By the end of the course, you will be able to critically read policy reports, link theory with historical evidence, and apply macroeconomic reasoning to assess policy options and predict likely outcomes. |
