Course Description:
This introductory course explores drama as an embodied activity. It offers students the chance to engage with a selection of plays as they learn the foundations of theater practice: how to read a script, how to speak its language in front of an audience, and how performance makes meaning in a community. The course's focus will be on both reading and performing the text out loud, helping us to understand how playwrights craft language that works in performance and how we can successfully "perform" in our day-to-day lives. This course is part of a 2-course sequence but can also be taken independently. |
