Course Description:
Histophysiology provides a comprehensive survey of the structure, physiological function, and cell composition of human tissues and organs. We cover the major organs (such as lungs, heart, kidneys, liver, and gonads), and all components of the digestive, reproductive, and urinary systems, as well as the circulatory, respiratory, integumentary, and skeleto-muscular systems. Particular emphasis is placed on structural - functional relationships in humans, along with clinical (pathological) aspects of tissue and organ biology. In the laboratory, students learn fundamentals of microscopic tissue and organ morphology as revealed through light microscopy, electron microscopy, and immunocytochemical techniques |
