Course Description:
What is an artist? What are the habits, curiosities, ways of working and approaches of a person living an artistic life? Why bother doing it? In this first year seminar we will stretch our practice as performers and creators, using art as a means to connect with and learn about ourselves, one another, Trinity, and the world. We will experiment across forms including dance, theater, performance art, and sound. We will use our own bodies, autobiographies, city, and campus as our foundation. Through collaborative experiments, performance exercises, artistic readings, viewings, and reflection, we will approach performance as research, exploring the boundaries and possibilities of live art.
