Course Description:
In the ancient Mediterranean, Gilgamesh, Achilles, Odysseus, and Jason went on quests that defined the values of the cultures that produced narratives about them. Our focus in this course will be investigating how the Epic of Gilgamesh, the Iliad, the Odyssey, and the Argonautica construct these characters, their companions, and the worlds of their quests, as well as what these tell us about human nature. |
