Valeria Jiménez earned her Ph.D in Economics from the University Sorbonne Paris North (USPN) in 2025. She is an alumna of the master's program Economic Policies in the Age of Globalisation (EPOG). She holds a Master in International Economics from the Berlin School of Economics and Law (BSEL) and a Master in Analysis and Economic Policy from USPN. She earned her Bachelor in Economics at the University of Costa Rica. 

Prior to joining Trinity, she worked as a Research Associate and Lecturer at BSEL, and she remains an associate member of the Institute for International Political Economy Berlin. 

Her research interests include macroeconomics, international economics, ecological macroeconomics, development economics and international and comparative political economy.

Valeria has taught macroeconomics and ecological economics at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes reflection, creative inquiry, and critical thinking. In her classes, she strives for student curiosity and engagement, encourages open dialogue, and presents pluralist perspectives within the field of economics.
