Faculty Profile: Sae Jun Kim

Sae Jun Kim is a visual artist whose work explores the shifting relationship between the human and more-than-human world through sculpture, installation, and experimental fabrication. His practice investigates how perception is shaped by material, technology, and processes of translation, often combining traditional making with digital tools to question how we encounter and represent nature. He has taught sculpture and fabrication at Yale School of Art and Wesleyan University, emphasizing technical proficiency as a foundation for critical inquiry and creative experimentation.

Kim believes that every material transformation and visual representation can become a language for conceptual inquiry, cultivating curiosity, careful observation, and critical thinking.
