Jacques P. Lesure is a scholar, evaluator, and educator whose work engages race, education, evaluation, and policy. His research examines how nonprofits, grassroots initiatives, foundations, and governmental agencies develop, negotiate, and contest evaluative discourses, practices, and norms in their efforts to address racial and socioeconomic inequality. More specifically, he explores how notions of "impact" and "progress" are constructed within educational and social service contexts, shaped by broader political and economic arrangements, with implications for evaluation theory and practice.
At Trinity College, he serves as Senior Director of CHER Academic Programs and Lecturer of Educational Studies. In and outside of the classroom, he designs learning experiences that center community-led, data-informed priorities, aligning them with student learning goals. Prior to Trinity, he was a Visiting Assistant Professor of Education at Brown University, where he also directed the Rhode Island Evidence Collective, an evaluation capacity-building initiative across education, public health, and workforce development. |
