Reynaldo Lastre researched about cinema and literature in Cuba. As a member of the Association of the Cinematographic Press (FIPRESSI), he has published reviews and specialized articles in several Cuban and foreign magazines. He investigated the Cuban Essay of the last decades and he also edited the Anthology Anatomía de una Isla. Jóvenes ensayistas cubanos (Ediciones La Luz, Cuba, 2014).

During 2017-2019 he completed a Master’s Degree in the Literature, Culture, and Language’s Department at the University of Connecticut, where he wrote a thesis on Literary Essay and Racism in Cuba during the Special Period (1990-2004). As a Graduate Student, he founded and co-directs the study group Philosophical Subversions, a debate space for contemporary philosophical production written in Spanish. He is currently preparing his doctoral thesis on the impact of Nuclear Energy on the Cultural Production of the Hispanic Caribbean. He was awarded the Jorgensen Scholarship from the University of Connecticut Graduate School.
