Josephine Rodgers teaches American art and architectural history in the Art History department. Focusing on art from the long nineteenth century, her current research examines the role that artistic production played in constructing American cultural identities. Curating collections and managing international exhibitions has been an integral part of her career. She earned her Ph.D. from Rutgers University in 2015. Since 2018, she has been working with Mark D. Mitchell, the Holcombe T. Green Curator of American Paintings and Sculpture at the Yale University Art Gallery, coordinating details for the Gallery's upcoming exhibition on the American Renaissance. She has held positions at the Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, Smithsonian Institution, in Washington, D.C., the National Gallery of Art, also in Washington, and the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, in New York. |
