Pratiti Tagore completed her PhD in Planning, Policy and Design from the College of Architecture at the University of Utah in 2020. She also holds a Bachelors of Architecture and Masters of Urban Planning from India. Her current research focuses on objective safety and perceived safety in urban neighborhoods, and how perceptions or risk can guide daily decision making, and how experiences of safety are different for residents of different classes and ethnicities. Her future research plans to explore causal relationships between urban nature, perceived well-being and health outcomes, also within urban neighborhoods. In the past, she has studied the relationship between civic engagement, political affiliations and yard water consumption.

Professor Tagore has been deeply engaged in community teaching. In Utah, she has taught incarcerated men and teenaged girls about water science, water conservation and low-water landscaping. She follows principles of experiential and symbiotic pedagogy for effective learning within and beyond classrooms.
