Matthew Ostrowski is an internationally recognized composer, performer, and media artist. He earned his BA in History from Oberlin College, where he interned with composers Robert Ashley and David Behrman.  He then studied digital synthesis and composition at the Institute of Sonology at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague with Clarence Barlow and Joel Ryan. He also designs interactive multimedia software, having worked with such artists as Laurie Anderson, Bill T. Jones, Zeena Parkins, Toni Dove, and the Flying Karamazov Brothers.

His fields of practical research include interactive instrument design, generative algorithms for audio and video, and robotics. His theoretical interests encompass media history and archaeology, sound studies, and the relations between technology and consciousness.
