Carole Delaitre is Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Language and Culture Studies. Her research and teaching interests are 20th- and 21st-century French and Francophone literature, with particular emphasis on aesthetic representations of mobilities, spatial theory, environmental humanities, and the history of literary genres. She has published and presented on the representation of tourism in French and Francophone literature and on resistance movements during World War II.

Professor Delaitre draws on her dual education in France and in the United States and on her experience teaching in three different institutions by placing diversity and interdisciplinarity at the core of her pedagogy. In her classroom, she encourages students to reflect on cultural differences and on the diversity of the Francophone world while developing their critical skills through a wide array of methodologies. In addition to language and survey courses, she has taught seminars on coming-of-age literature, the representation of mental illness, and on French and Francophone culture through the media.
