Ph.D., Wesleyan Univ. (2017)
B.A., Marist College (2011)

James received a B.A. in Mathematics from Marist College in 2011 and went on to obtain his Ph.D. in Mathematics at Wesleyan University. While at Wesleyan, James became interested in studying knot theory and low dimensional topology. His dissertation focused on generalizing a well-known result in knot theory, the Fox-Milnor Theorem, to a new class of knots.

In the summer of 2015, James had the pleasure of working at the Seattle University Mathematics Early Research program under the direction of Allison Henrich and Jenn Townsend. The program introduced undergraduates to the basics of knot theory and the work of the students resulted in published work. James looks forward to working with undergraduates in knot theory research in the future.

During his time at Wesleyan, James gained experience teaching Calculus courses. Through his enthusiasm for the subject, James strives to stimulate interest in mathematics.
