Dr. Jo-Ann Jee is from Sarawak, Malaysia and obtained her B.S. in biochemistry from Trinity College in 2010. Her interest in chemistry took her to Stony Brook University in New York, where she earned her Ph.D. in chemistry in 2015. Her doctoral work focused on the synthesis of dendrimers via isocyanide multicomponent reactions, which led to an interest in chemistry for targeted drug delivery applications. She then completed her postdoctoral work at the Infectious Disease Research Institute in Seattle, Washington, where she designed and synthesized potential drug candidates for the treatment of tuberculosis. Her most recent research was focused on the development of new and cost-effective strategies for the synthesis of HIV drugs at Virginia Commonwealth University. Her research on dolutegravir, a HIV integrase inhibitor, utilizes batch and continuous flow chemistry. Aside from research, Dr. Jee is passionate about teaching and mentoring, and has spent time as an adjunct professor at John Tyler Community College in Virginia. She is excited to return to her roots at Trinity College as a Visiting Assistant Professor.
