Andrew Conroe graduated from Oberlin College in 1996 with a B.A. in English and Religion, and from the University of Michigan in 2001 with an M.A. in Southeast Asian Studies. He earned his Ph.D. in Anthropology and History from the University of Michigan in 2012.
He finds that the most rewarding part of teaching is helping students engage with new and challenging material on a variety of levels and through a variety of media. He believes that one of the most important aspects of the study of anthropology is a deepening of our understanding of the unfamiliar, and a simultaneous unsettling of the (seemingly) familiar. |
