Kevin MacDermott is an Instructor of Physical Education and Head Coach of Men’s Rowing in the Department of Athletics.  During his eight years as head coach, the Men's Rowing team has won five New England Rowing Championship Team Titles and has won three ECAC Team Championships.  He was named NESCAC Coach of the Year in 2013.  Outside of the boathouse, Kevin has been involved in numerous academic and creative endeavors.  For his project, Applied Improvisation: Collaborative Creativity in the Classroom, Kevin was named a Trinity College Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) Fellow for 2016-17.  He is the only member of the Athletics Department Faculty to receive the honor of a CTL Fellowship.  In 2015, Kevin created and hosted the Faculty Profile Podcast, an original long-form interview podcast featuring members of Trinity's Faculty.  The podcasts were recorded and produced in a collaborative creative partnership with the student organization The Mill, and a second series of the Podcast is planned for 2017-18.  In 2015 and 2017, Kevin co-taught the First-Year Seminar Food, Fitness and the Journey of Self-Discovery with Professor Dario Del Puppo, additionally serving as adviser for the first-year cohorts.  

From 2010-2011, Kevin was the Head Coach of the United States Men's Junior National Team, responsible for coordinating all aspects of team selection and system development.  In August 2011, he led the team to the World Rowing Junior Championships held at Eton Dorney, UK which served as the rowing venue for the 2012 London Olympic Games.  Before his promotion to Head Coach, Kevin served as Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for Men’s Rowing at Trinity from 2006-2009.  During his three seasons as Assistant Coach, Kevin helped guide five crews to medal-winning performances at the New England Championships.  Since 2007, Kevin has served as an Associate Director of Sculling at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center, a world-renowned organization that promotes outdoor activities.  Prior to his work at Trinity, Kevin was the Assistant Coach of Men’s Rowing at Wesleyan University from 2002-2006.
